David Jor

David JorMy dream is to become an entrepreneur in global business. I was graduated from the University of Surrey, UK with a B.Sc. (Eng) in Chemical Engineering. I am a Corporate Member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers.

I have keen interest in Education Reform, Decision Making, Continual Process Improvement, Customer Relations, Leadership, Innovation and Human Relationship.

My entrepreneur strengths assessment test (www.estrengths.com) revealed that 17 traits are highly developed (resourcefulness, purposeful, focus, risk management, problem solving, salesmanship, visionary, optimistic, integrity, leadership, innovation, adaptability, communication, self motivation, strategist, curiosity and balance.) and 3 traits (ambitious, team player and determination) are developed.

I have been sharing my family supernatural testimonies of how Jesus blessed me and my family members at www.Miracles4you.org. This website might change your life.

Among many of my dreams, one of which is to help people to quit smoking free of charge at www.QuitSmokingByPrayer.com. It is by God’s power and not just determination. I succeeded to quit smoking after I have become a Christian although I failed 3 times to quit smoking before I become a Christian.

My other dream is to research and explore the possibility to develop an Animals and Mammals in Touch Park (AMIP) in Hong Kong. A few volunteers and I did a survey in 2006 on the tourists. We found that 50% tourists were interested to visit AMIP and 34% tourists were willing to spend one more day in Hong Kong for such purpose. I made a suggestion to the Commissioner of Tourism some years ago, but it was turned down. The reason was that Ocean Park has taken care of AMIP. I don’t agree with that. My son then made a suggestion to the Ocean Park and later there is only dolphin-in-touch, but rather expensive and requires advance booking. This arrangement cannot entertain all interested tourists. So I made suggestion to the Tourism Board. They believe there is a market for AMIP, but it is rather dangerous. So they turned down my suggestion. As a member of the Entrepreneur Association Ltd, one of the agenda to meet with the Chairman of a political party was the AMIP. We hope that Chairman can contact the tycoons for us to consider investing in the AMIP if it is feasible. He has difficulty in doing that.

In 2010, I was nominated as a Vice Chairman of the Entrepreneur Association, a non profit organization. I happened to watch the TV on one Tuesday and found that one professor has successfully obtained funding to use 5 years to research the index of happiness in 18 districts of Hong Kong from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust (HKJCC). This has given me a hint of the possibility to apply charity fund from the HKJCC to first do a professional market research. If there is market, then a feasibility study can be carried out. If it is feasible, then write up a business plan and perhaps do a press conference to attract potential investors to do something for Hong Kong. Rich men in HK had donated over billion of HK dollars for charity and research. Likewise, I hope they would consider investing in the AMIP if it is feasible.

The HKSAR government already has a financial burden of the DisneyLand. It is difficult for the government to bear any possible risk of animals/mammals hurt people in the AMIP. However, I believe good risk management can avoid or minimize such risk. The animals in touch section at the Pun Yu (番禺) Zoo has been doing fine for some years. My dream is that the AMIP will be a very comprehensive animals and mammals-in-touch park. So far, I am not aware of such comprehensive park in the world.

The AMIP is not just entertaining. It will enhance the competiveness of tourism, increase tourists spending, direct and indirect job opportunities. There will be a DisneyLand and Futurescope theme park in Mainland China. Though HK is small, AMIP will have a good impact on tourists by increasing their index of happiness. I believe many tourists will return HK to have fun again in the AMIP.

I hope that the government will consider leasing land at HK$1 per year to make the AMIP feasible to invest. We shall have a clearer picture when the feasibility study is done.
